Almuten Figuris, translates to “the victor of the figure” i.e “the victor of the chart”. It is a term rooted in the Arabic word “al-mubtazz” meaning “the victor”. The Almuten Figuris was seen not only as the planet that is the most influential in the Birth Chart, but also as the personal daimōn or dæmon of the individual in question.

The Almuten Figuris offers valuable insight into “who is pulling the strings”, so to speak, what planetary energy holds the most sway within the life. It reflects a place of higher power and vital drive.

Ibn Ezra, a Medieval Astronomer and Philosopher described the Almuten Figuris as able to reveal a person’s physical appearance and way of being.

The philosophical concept of the Almuten Figuris was closely related to ideas of the Divine Self, the Divinity within. Although this technique emerged during the Medieval period, it was strongly influenced by the much earlier philosophical idea of the Daimōn which was very popular during the Hellenistic period, notably within Neo-platonic thought. It was believed that each enfleshed Soul was sent a guardian angel or personal Daimōn from the celestial planes at the moment of birth and that this spiritual entity was responsible for keeping the individual’s life in alignment with the True Voice of their Soul.

The Almuten Figuris is the a personal Daimōn, a guiding spirit that draws the individual toward its own fundamental authentic nature, toward pathways that are coherent with the appetites and desires of the Soul.
