Almuten Figures, Courting the Daimon
The Almuten Figuris - or “the victor of the chart” - is a Medieval principle which emphasises one planet in the birth chart as the most influential. This victorious powerful planet was considered to be closely related to a person’s inner divinity, life purpose and guiding spirit, the Daimon, a sort of divine guardian angel that helps align actions with the True Essence of the Soul.
Almuten Figuris, Couring the Daimōn is a two hour long session in which we will do a deep dive into your Almuten Figuris and Daimon.

What is the Almuten Figuris?
Almuten Figuris translates to the victor of the chart, rooted in the Arabic word “al-mubtazz” meaning “the victor”. The Almuten Figuris is a Medieval technique which reveals one planet as the most influential in the Birth Chart.
The calculation required to find out the Almuten Figuris takes into consideration and synthesizes five Life-Giving places in the chart.
The Sun & the Moon denoting a person’s unique Soul Radiance and source of Vitality
The Ascendant anchoring the person to their moment of emergence into the world
The Lot of Fortune positing a person’s physical embodiment, health, allotted fate or life purpose
The pre-natal lunation describing a person’s soul contracts before birth, perhaps from their ancestors and/or previous incarnations (if you subscribe to that idea).
The Almuten Figuris offers valuable insight into “who is pulling the strings” in the birth chart, so to speak, and what planetary energy holds the most sway within the life of the person.
The Planetary Sphere in question reflects a person’s higher power, connection to the divine, vital drive and life purpose.
What is the Daimon?
Although this technique emerged during the Medieval period, it was strongly influenced by the much earlier philosophical idea of the Daimon which was central to Neo-platonic and Hellenic thought. The idea is that each person is assigned a divine guardian, an angel or personal Daimon at the moment of birth and that this spiritual entity is responsible for keeping the individual’s life in alignment with the True Voice & Purpose of their Soul.
Socrates described this Mysterious Entity as his daimónion, his “inner voice" or “inner adviser” with whom he developed a close relationship. He said that this inner voice would communicate messages to ensure that he kept his life on track and did not make inauthentic decisions.
The Daimon is an intermediary guiding spirit that draws the individual toward its own fundamental authentic nature, toward pathways that are coherent with the appetites and desires of the Soul.
How are the Almuten Figuris and Daimon connected?
The Almuten Figuris technique is derived from places in the birth chart that are “life-giving”, connected to Solar and Lunar Light as well as Birth. This planet becomes a powerful ally for awakening the Life Force.
The Almuten became an easy candidate within Medieval Occult Traditions since it naturally evokes ideas of the Soul and inner Divine Light. This planet was seen as a useful way to connect with the Daimon since the Daimon was thought to be a protector and guardian of the Soul.
It was believed that by cultivating activities that resonated with the Almuten’s natural significations through a variety of practices wether it be devotional, creative or other, we can open ourselves to the Daimon, learn to hear its advice and wisdom.
Engaging in the planetary sphere of the Almuten Figuris therefore is an act of devotion to the Daimon, the guardian angel and as a result to the Deep Self.
Discovering the Almuten Figuris can therefore be seen as a pathway of self-enquiry in which we are attempting to peer into the Deep Self, connect with aspects of us that are more-than-human, and listen and bear witness to our immense creative potential.
Courting the Daimon with the Rose
During our session we will be working with Rose Tea as a way to soften into a state of reflective contemplation. Imbuing the body with her fragrant hypnotic Medicine opens the field of consciousness into the subtle realms and allows for deeper connection and integration.
As we explore the Almuten Figuris’ planetary sphere we will be pulling on different Mytho-Poetic threads that will further allow for the Daimon to be felt. The Rose Attunement at the end of our session is a 30 minute guided visualisation held by the Medicine of the Rose in which we will navigate the Imaginal to bathe in the Almuten’s planetary realm and encounter the Daimon.
